Justin Bieber throws it back to the Noughties as he and wife Hailey star in Drake’s Popstar music video

Popstar may be a collaboration between DJ Khaled and Drake, but it’s clear Justin Bieber was the perfect choice for the music video.

The eight-minute clip begins with DJ Khaled hounding Drake to release a music video for the pair’s song, before Bieber steps in for the Toosie Slide rapper.

The 26-year-old then raps Drake’s lines as he marches around a lavish mansion, clutching a bottle of champagne and dancing alongside a bevy of beautiful women.

The video then features several throwbacks to Bieber’s early career, including the star’s full fringe helmet cut and photos from a shoot he did with Mike Lerner in 2014. Best of all, Bieber’s ringtone in the video is his 2010 smash hit, Baby.

Popstar also features several other cameos, including Bieber’s manager Scooter Braun and the singer’s model wife Hailey Baldwin.

Fans loved the good-humoured music video, immediately taking to Twitter to share their reactions.

Drake has since reached out to Bieber on Instagram, writing: “Thanks JB…I owe you one,” to which Bieber replied: “Anytime.”

Popstar is just one of Drake’s collaborations with DJ Khaled, with the pair also dropping their track Greece back in July.

Both tracks are expected to feature on DJ Khaled’s twelfth studio album, Khaled Khaled, which is slated to be released sometime this year.

Drake has caused quite the stir with his releases in 2020, with his recent hit Only You Freestyle alongside Headie One raising eyebrows after he name-dropped British TV and radio presenter, Maya Jama.

“Chubbs might jam this yute for a chain,” he rapped, before adding: “And gave it to a sweet one, called that Maya Jama.”
