Justin Bieber sues Twitter users for £16 million after sexual assault allegations

Justin Bieber is suing two Twitter users for more than £16 million ($20 million) after he was publicly accused of sexual assault.

The singer, 26, has filed lawsuits in the US against the accounts held under the names “Danielle” and “Kadi”, and said he has “indisputable documentary evidence” that the allegations are untrue.

This week “Danielle” published a claim that Bieber had sexually assaulted her in a Four Seasons hotel room after a festival appearance in 2014.

In a string of messages, Bieber said he was staying with girlfriend at the time, Selena Gomez, in an AirBnb on the night of the alleged attack, producing receipts and branding the claim “factually impossible”.

He consulted with his wife, the model Hailey Bieber, before going public with the denials, saying: “Rumours are rumours but sexual abuse is something I don’t take lightly.” He told fans: “I want to be clear. There is no truth to this story. In fact as I will soon show I was never present at that location.”

The second Twitter account “Kadi” had separately accused Bieber of sexual assault at 2.30am in his hotel room at The Langham in New York in 2015.

Bieber, who is claiming £8 million ($10 million) in damages from each account, said he believes “Kadi” is a superfan who hangs around hotels but whom he has never actually met.

Bieber said he has proof that he was in New York that night for the Met Gala, staying at a private after-party until 4am before getting a snack from a hot dog stand.

The pop star said he believes the two accusations are part of a co-ordinated and “malicious” attempt to tarnish his reputation, suggesting the accounts may be run by the same person.
