Jurgen Klopp has suggested that he isn’t holding out much hope of Manchester United doing Liverpool a title race favour on Wednesday.
United host Manchester City at Old Trafford in what is City’s game in hand in the gripping battle to win the Premier League, which was prolonged on Sunday when Klopp’s side earned a hard-fought 2-0 win at Cardiff City.
A stunning strike from Gini Wijnaldum and James Milner’s penalty got the job done for the Reds in south Wales, with all focus now shifting to the Manchester derby.
But Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side will enter the game off the back of a shambolic display at Everton on Sunday, when they lost 4-0.

Speaking after Liverpool’s win, Klopp suggested that he might not even bother watching on Wednesday night, after which Liverpool host already relegated Huddersfield at Anfield on Friday.
“I think I’ll be watching if there’s nothing else to do,” he said, via the Liverpool Echo . “Hopefully I can avoid that, we have no influence.
“It doesn’t look like at the moment that Man Utd can really… what was the result today? 3-0? 4-0?
“So we’ll see, City will be ready and we’ll see if United are ready as well.

“It’s a normal game, it’s a game they have to play, we played there and had a draw.
“We had to play that game at Manchester United when they were in a much better moment. It was a 0-0.
“If United gets a point and whatever and we beat Huddersfield then go to Newcastle and even half think we have it, then we get a knock there, it’s all difficult.
“We just have to stay focused on our things. That’s what has worked really well so far and I don’t see any reason why we should change that.”

Klopp added that his side are still just focused on their own season, which includes a Champions League semi-final against Barcelona next week.
“We are motivated because we play for this club because we want to win games, we enjoy the ride together with our fans,” he said.
“But of course, we have no influence on the other games. We can play our games.
“Our next game against Huddersfield will be difficult.
“People will no doubt ask me if I’m thinking about Barcelona or some bulls**t like that.
“We will be completely focused on Huddersfield. Until then we have to train, recover and rest.”
