Jurgen Klopp warns Mohamed Salah ahead of Manchester Unite test

Jurgen Klopp has warned Mohamed Salah to expect some ‘old-school’ treatment during Liverpool’s eagerly anticipated derby against Manchester United.

Salah’s continued excellence has helped Liverpool to open up a five point gap at the top of the table having played one game fewer than second place Manchester City.

The Egypt international, last season’s Golden Boot winner, has failed to score, however, in four previous appearances against United.

Salah is a slight injury doubt ahead of tomorrow’s Old Trafford grudge match after he injured his ankle having been chopped down by Leicester’s Hamza Choudhury in the match prior to the international break and Klopp expects his star forward will be targeted again.

‘If someone had told me that he (Salah) had never scored against United, I would have said ‘really?’ said Klopp.

‘I suppose the more you go without scoring against an opponent there may be one moment when you start scoring.

‘There is a reason for these kinds of stories, just like our history and stats against United away, such as the stadium or the intensity of the game, stuff like that.

‘Yes, it is a big test and sometimes there will be the “old school” challenges and you have to be ready for them. That is how it is.’
