Jurgen Klopp reveals why Mohamed Salah and Andy Robertson couldn’t start against Everton

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has allayed injury fears over star duo Mohamed Salah and Andy Robertson by revealing both players will be fit to feature against Crystal Palace on Wednesday.

Robertson was not named in Liverpool’s 20-man squad to face Everton, while Salah was only fit enough for a place on the bench.

The pair both missed a behind-closed-doors friendly against Blackburn last weekend but Klopp had been optimistic that the pair would be fit to play against the Toffees.

However, despite both players feeling ready to play, Klopp has revealed the club’s medical department advised him against selecting Robertson and said Salah was only fit for a place on the bench.

‘Mo [Mohamed Salah], Robbo [Andy Robertson] and Shaq [Xherdan Shaqiri are the only three that couldn’t train all the time,’ said Klopp.

‘It’s little things only and now we make decisions. With the decisions I make iI have to listen to the medical department. They are the experts and if I don’t listen to the experts why do I need them?

‘Mo is ready for the bench and maybe for a few minutes. Robbo if i ask him he would say he can play so that’s good but medical department said ‘no, not yet’ but both will be ready for Wednesday.’
