Jurgen Klopp has revealed his Liverpool players were ‘angry’ immediately after their disappointing 1-1 draw with West Brom on Sunday.

The Reds dominated possession in the first half as Sam Allardyce’s well-drilled side put in a dogged defensive performance.

Sadio Mane opened the scoring after 12 minutes with a sublime touch and finish from Joel Matip’s pass but Liverpool lacked cutting edge and went into the break with just 1-0 lead.

The Baggies improved after half-time and took their chance as defender Semi Ajayi headed in Matheus Pereira’s cross late on to give his side a point at Anfield.

Liverpool missed out on the chance to extend their lead at the top of the table to five points.

Klopp felt his side deserved to draw and admitted his players were ‘angry’ in the dressing room after the game.

When asked in his post-match press conference if the result feels like a loss, Klopp said: ‘Yes it does, but I know we have a point more than before so that’s completely fine.

‘The problem that I have is I think West Brom deserved the point – it’s our fault, but they deserved a point in the second half.

‘First half was a really strange game, I don’t know the stats yet but it looks like it was 90/10 [per cent] possession or something like this.

‘First five minutes of the second half, they had more situations than they had in the entire first half and we could have sorted that by passing just easy, simple, quick to the next player.

‘So we could have done it and we didn’t and that’s why it’s our fault that it’s in the end a 1-1 and not a 1-0 or 2-0 or whatever. So that’s what we have to accept and we do that, of course.’

‘We should have won the game, or we wanted to win the game and we didn’t, and now we are all ‘depressed’ or whatever,’ he added.

‘The boys are more angry than anything else because they know that it was not perfect but that’s it and now, of course, we have to play the next game in three days.

‘We don’t live in dream-land and just win football matches because we want to win them: we have to work for it and we have to play for it and we have to finish the situations off and we have to pass in the right moments. These kind of things, what the boys are able to do. That’s it.’
