Jurgen Klopp is adamant that Liverpool would be unable to sign Kylian Mbappe from Paris Saint-Germain.
The 20-year-old joined PSG in a €180 million (£165.7m) deal in the summer of 2017 and has already established himself as one of the world’s best forwards.
Mbappe was heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid in the summer as Zinedine Zidane is keen to sign the France international.
Earlier this week, Mbappe was linked with a switch to Liverpool but Klopp insists his side have little chance of agreeing a deal with PSG.
‘Buying this calibre of player is difficult,’ said Klopp.
‘I don’t see any club at the moment who can buy Kylian Mbappe from PSG.
‘I don’t see any club, that is how it is. And we are involved in the clubs that cannot do it. It is as easy as that.
‘OK, from a sporting point of view, there are not a lot of reasons to not sign him. What a player he is.
‘But it is about the money, of course.
‘No chance. Absolutely no chance. Sorry for killing that story.’
