JURGEN KLOPP urged his Liverpool stars to be “greedy and angry” as they kickstart their bid to end 30 years of title hurt.
The Reds host Norwich in Friday’s Premier League curtain-raiser having lost out by just a single point to Manchester City last term.
And Klopp claims even being champions of Europe will count for nothing.
The Anfield chief said: “It’s the new season and we have to be angry and greedy again and create a football atmosphere. These games are always potential banana skins.
‘LOUD AND EMOTIONAL’
“We have to make sure we are ready. We have to respect them 100 per cent with the effort and desire we show from the start.
“It will be loud and emotional but at the first whistle we have to be on our toes.
“I will ask the boys for intensity and keep us as the team nobody wants to play.
“Championship winning is like Champions League winning, it’s so long ago you can’t build on that.”
Meanwhile, Liverpool scrapped any plans to buy back Philippe Coutinho after Barcelona demanded £100million— £35m more than they asked from other clubs.
The Brazil forward, 27, went to the Nou Camp for £145m in January 2018.
