Jurgen Klopp has claimed that Mohamed Salah was left “angry” in the Liverpool dressing room despite scoring twice in the 4-1 win over Everton.

Salah was once again the standout star for the Reds as he spearheaded their thumping of arch-rivals Everton, with goals from Jordan Henderson and Diogo Jota completing the quartet of strikes.

The Egyptian appeared to be smiling in his post-match interviews as he was asked about his lowly Ballon d’Or finish.

However, Klopp insisted that he was less than impressed with his own performance at Goodison Park, having wanted to pick up a hat-trick and the match ball.

“He was angry after the game!” Klopp told Amazon Prime. “He wanted to score the third one. I don’t take these things for granted.

“His second goal, you have to force these kind of mistakes. Mo put Coleman under pressure to win that ball and from then on it is a good chance he will score.”

Klopp also gushed over side’s performance, insisting it was the best he’d seen in an away game against the Toffees.

“We have momentum but it was by far the best performance since I’ve seen at Liverpool at Goodison,” the German added.

“Before the game people told me that in derbies form or shape doesn’t count, I see it totally different.”

Reflecting on the goal they conceded to allow Everton back into the game, Klopp stated: “It was a really good game from my team, a really mature performance, grown up performance, much better than in years before, especially at Goodison.

“We were much too open when we gave away the goal but it can happen when you are superior. We should have been one or two nil up before we scored the first goal.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp on the touchline

“We scored the goals at 2-0 and maybe then we were not that ruthless, we gave them so life back. I am not seeking for perfection, if it would be easy I know everyone could do it. The boys did well.”

Former Liverpool star Jamie Carragher shared his view on Salah during the match on social media.

Taking to Twitter, Carragher showed his disagreement with where Salah was ranked as he shared a pointed remark on the Ballon d’Or rankings.

He tweeted: “Best player in the world, Mohamed Salah.”
