‘Jumanji’ videogame breaks cover before E3 2019 – Tech News – The Star Online

Dr Smolder Bravestone, Ruby Roundhouse, Franklin Finbar and Professor Shelly Oberon: the characters played by movie stars Dwayne Johnson, Jack Black, Kevin Hart and Karen Gillan are to star in an officially licensed videogame set within the Jumanji film franchise.

Jumanji: The Video Game is set for release on Nov 15 across PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC, a month before the second new Jumanji film begins its theatrical run.

It’s to be the first major project from UK-based studio Funsolve, founded in 2015, which then partnered with Jumanji: The Video Game publisher Outright Games back in 2017.

Studio leads have previously worked on games in the Angry Birds, Sonic & All-Stars Racing, Disney’s Epic Mickey and Harry Potter franchises.

Outright’s announcement emphasised the family-friendly nature of the Jumanji proposal, which has players search for the precious Jewels of Jumanji, save the world, and find a way home through a deadly array of exotic creatures, dangerous locations and an army of evil marauders.

The current run of Jumanji movies are about four friends getting stuck inside a fictional videogame.

The first Jumanji movie debuted in 1995 and revolved around a magical board game. It was based on a 1981 children’s picture book of the same name. Funsolve studio boss Richard Tawn, who said that more features and reveals were coming soon, is to attend the Electronic Entertainment Expo 2019, which runs June 11 to 13.

More information about Jumanji: The Video Game appears likely to emerge during that time or even during a raft of showcase presentations that begin on June 8. – AFP Relaxnews
