Jose Mourinho takes ball off Son Heung-min and gives it to Tottenham teammate

Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho presented teenager Troy Parrott with the match ball following his Premier League debut against Burnley .

Spurs bounced back from their disappointing midweek defeat to Manchester United to secure a dominant 5-0 win at home on Saturday.

Harry Kane scored a brace while Moussa Sissoko and Lucas Moura also found the net against Sean Dyche’s side, but it was Son Heung-min who stole the show with one of the goals of the season.

The South Korean picked up the ball on the edge of his own area before carrying it the length of the pitch – beating a number of Burnley defenders in the process – and finishing past Nick Pope.

It was the standout moment in a man-of-the-match performance for the forward and he found himself in possession of the game ball after the final whistle.

It looked like he intended to keep it, but Spurs boss Mourinho asked the 27-year-old to hand it over before walking over to give it to Parrott.

The 17-year-old has impressed for Spurs in the UEFA Youth League this season and came off the bench in the final five minutes to make his first appearance in the league.

Parrott, who has played in the EFL Cup this season and has been capped by Ireland, replaced Dele Alli while Mourinho also gave some game-time to fellow teenagers Oliver Skipp and Ryan Sessegnon.

Explaining his actions during his post-match press-conference, Mourinho said: “It’s the Premier League debut for a 17 year kid, so if he has the chance to have the ball for his debut.

“Sometimes [the match ball] is for the guy who has his hat trick but I think it has a bigger meaning for a 17-year-old boy.

“Last week he was playing in the UEFA Youth League with kids of his age. Today he played in the Premier League.

“He played for Tottenham in the Premier League, played for his country in a match in Dublin.

“I think amazing week for him.”
