Jose Mourinho was in a cheeky mood after Tottenham Hotspur’s 2-1 win over Norwich and poked fun at Manchester United’s pursuit of Bruno Fernandes.

Goals from Dele Alli and Son Heung-min secured a vital three points on Wednesday night for Mourinho’s Spurs, who moved within six points of fourth-placed Chelsea and level with his former side Manchester United.

United suffered a 2-0 defeat to Burnley on the same night, with Chris Wood and Jay Rodriguez getting on the scoresheet, which has further placed the spotlight on the club’s struggles in the transfer market.

Sporting Lisbon midfielder Fernandes has been heavily linked with a move to United, with Solskjaer desperate to add creative forces to his side amid an injury crisis that’s left him without Paul Pogba, Scott McTominay and Marcus Rashford.

Mourinho has clearly been keeping an eye on his former club’s movements in the January transfer window, and quizzed a reporter over whether the Fernandes deal had been wrapped up.

Mourinho grinned: ‘How was Lisbon? good? Lisbon was good? ‘So Bruno Fernandes come to United or no?’

‘So you go to Lisbon and he’s not coming? But coming or no?

When told he is coming, he replied: ‘Ah, ok.’
