Jose Mourinho failed to sign Ryan Sessegnon for Man Utd in three transfer windows

Jose Mourinho has enjoyed a decent start to life at Tottenham , winning both of his two matches in charge.

Spurs saw off West Ham on Saturday before a stirring Champions League fightback against Olympiakos in midweek.

Ryan Sessegnon was an unused substitute against the Greek side as he waits for his Tottenham career to get going.

The former Fulham youngster has struggled for opportunities since his summer move but should not be concerned about being overlooked by Mourinho.

Daily Mirror Chief Football Writer John Cross revealed Mourinho is a big fan of Sessegnon – and has been for some time.

In his weekly column , he writes: “Ryan Sessegnon should have no worries about being a major part of Jose Mourinho’s plans at Tottenham.

“New Spurs boss Mourinho tried to sign England prospect Sessegnon, 19, for THREE transfer windows running while in charge of Manchester United .

“Sessegnon was not in the squad for Mourinho’s first game at West Ham after reporting back a day later than most team mates as he had been on England under-21 duty. But was on the bench in the Champions League in midweek.”

Sessegnon is again likely to be among the substitutes when Tottenham take on Bournemouth on Saturday.

His hopes of first-team action have been boosted by the injury setback to Ben Davies.

The Welshman has been ruled out for an ‘extended period’ due to an ankle problem.
