Jose Mourinho ‘agrees’ to replace Mauricio Pochettino at Tottenham after negotiations

Jose Mourinho has reportedly agreed a deal with Tottenham to replace Mauricio Pochettino as the club’s new manager.

Tottenham announced their shock decision to part ways with Pochettino in a statement on Tuesday evening.

Spurs chairman Daniel Levy insists the club were “extremely reluctant” to sack Pochettino, but felt the need for a change.

It quickly emerged that Mourinho was the frontrunner to come in as Pochettino’s replacement.

And it seems the club have acted quickly in bringing in the former Chelsea and Manchester United boss.

According to transfer expert Duncan Castles, Mourinho has agreed a deal with Tottenham to step in as their new manager.

It was reported late last night that Spurs representatives had begun talks with Mourinho and his people.

The Portuguese coach has been out of work since losing job at United back in December 2018.

Eddie Howe, Julian Nagelsmann and Carlo Ancelotti had also been linked with the vacant role left by Pochettino, but it looks as though Mourinho will take the hot seat at White Hart Lane.

And it looks as though Mourinho will be in the dugout in time for Tottenham’s match against West Ham on Saturday.

Tottenham took the decision to axe Pochettino with the club languishing in 14th having won just three of their opening 12 Premier League games.

They’re already 11 points adrift of the Champions League places, but sit just three points away from fifth.
