Jorja Smith’s new song Be Honest has gone straight into the top 20 of the Official Charts as she shook off the Stormzy and Maya Jama drama.
The singer collaborated with Burna Boy on the new song and revealed the video for the track last week.
She’s been busy working on the promo for the new track, which comes as Stormzy was forced to deny that she was the reason for his split from Maya Jama.
Stormzy, 26, and Maya, 25, split up after four years together in order to focus on their careers but rumours began circulating that Stormzy may have hooked up with Jorja.
A representative for the rapper told Metro.co.uk: ‘I can confirm any accusations or reports surrounding Stormzy’s infidelity to Maya are categorically not true.’
Stormzy and Jorja have been friends for several years and even collaborated on a track together called Let Me Down last year.
Jorja’s music career has been going from strength to strength, with her already racking up two BRIT Award wins for Critics’ Choice in 2018 and British Female Solo Artist in 2019.
Of Be Honest, she told Beats 1: ‘Be Honest, just be honest. Because I am very honest and I like being straight up.’
She also revealed that she hasn’t set a date for her next album, saying she wants to have a bit of time off before putting out a whole record for Be Honest to be part of.
Jorja explained: ‘I need time! I need some time off and then we’ll have a new album. I’ve been so but I need to write about everything that’s happened in my life. Mostly good, but I’m good at writing sad songs.’
