Liverpool midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has revealed that club captain Jordan Henderson has strong words with any teammate who mentions winning the Premier League title in training.
The Reds are closing in on finally sealing their first ever Premier League win, and require just 15 points to confirm themselves as champions.
Oxlade-Chamberlain joined Liverpool from Arsenal in 2017 because of his desire to win silverware, and spoke of his burning ambition to be as successful as possible.
“That’s the way I am,” he said. “That’s how I have been brought up, striving to be the best you can be- whatever that is- and never be satisfied. My dad would always say that you can look back and be happy with yourself when you can’t do it anymore. Until then, you always have to push, never be satisfied and that’s what the team is doing at the minute as well.”

Oxlade-Chamberlain used Henderson as an example of the winning mentality that is around the club at the moment, and said the centre-midfielder does not accept any title talk from his colleagues.
He continued: “I look at Jordan Henderson because he’s lifted the European Cup, how much that meant to him, but you wouldn’t have thought he’d lifted anything from the way he is.
“If anyone utters the words ‘winning the league’ then he shuts them straight down. He’s done it externally as well, he won’t ever let himself get carried away. He’s just so driven, focused on the next game and the next thing.

“That’s how we are as a team and how I am as an individual. My dad built that into me so that I am never too excited by anything that’s going on around you, you’ve got to go onto the next thing to achieve the next target.”
Oxlade-Chamberlain is likely to start again on Monday night when Liverpool take on struggling West Ham at Anfield, but Henderson is out injured for at least three weeks.
