Johnny Depp has thanked fans for their ‘constant and loyal support’ in a handwritten letter shared on Instagram.

The former Pirates of the Caribbean star, 57, shared a video of him writing the note, adding: ‘Hello All! I just wanted to thank you all once again for your constant and loyal support throughout many long and interesting episodes of my life…

‘I am only here because of you — and I’m only here for you!!! All thanks and love to you for all, JD’.

It comes as the $50million (£39million) defamation lawsuit he brought against ex Amber Heard was delayed further.

Johnny had asked for the date to be moved back due to his filming commitments, but it was the coronavirus pandemic that influenced the final decision on the date.

On Friday, Judge Bruce White pushed the trial back from January 11, 2021 until May 3, 2021 due to the ongoing restrictions from the pandemic.

He told lawyers for Johnny and Amber via video link: ‘Right now, the Virginia Supreme Court has not authorized us to conduct jury trials,’ according to Deadline.

The new date is still subject to change as criminal trials will be the first back in court, which could push theirs back even further.

Johnny had asked at the end of August for the proceedings to be moved to somewhere between March and June, citing his filming commitments for Fantastic Beasts 3 meaning he is scheduled to be in London from October until February.

Amber had pushed back, claiming that the new dates would conflict with her own filming schedule for Aquaman II.

The lawsuit is based on Johnny’s claims that an op-ed Amber wrote in the Washington Post in December 2018 about domestic violence cost him a role in Disney’s reboot of Pirates of the Caribbean, though he was not mentioned in it by name.
