Johnny Depp and Alice Cooper stormed the stage to join Aerosmith and belt out some of their classics as they celebrated their 50-year career as one of the best-selling American hard rock bands of all time at a charity gala on Friday.

Depp and Cooper – who perform with Aerosmith’s guitarist Joe Perry in supergroup Hollywood Vampires – were among a long list of rock and roll legends, including the Foo Fighters, Queens of the Stone Age and John Legend, to perform the band’s hits at the MusiCares Person of the Year ceremony in Los Angeles.

The 56-year-old actor looked typically cool in a black shirt with his daughter’s name Lily-Rose embroidered across it, and a pair of black jeans as he shared the mic with Steven Tyler and Alice Cooper, before playing a guitar solo.

British comedian Russell Brand was hosting the event, and he made sure to make plenty of jokes about the band’s former wild antics and infamous partying, along with gags about the advancing age of frontman Steven Tyler, Perry, and guitarists Brad Whitford and Tom Hamilton, naturally.

‘It’s a miracle he’s still alive!’ Russell quipped, before describing Steven as ‘the sexiest septuagenarian in history’.

Kesha was also at the ceremony, and gave an emotional performance of Aerosmith’s Janie’s Got a Gun. Soul singer John received a standing ovation for his rendition of the band’s famous ballad I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing.

LeAnn Rimes sang Livin’ On the Edge, while the Jonas Brothers performed their take on Crazy.

Meanwhile, Johnny’s 20-year-old actress daughter Lily-Rose recently praised her dad for being a laid back parent, telling The Sun: ‘My parents weren’t very strict. They’ve always trusted me to be independent and make my own decisions. There wasn’t really anything to rebel against.’

Johnny and Vanessa Paradis were together from 1998 to 2012, and also have a son Jack who was born in 2002.
