John Lewis is finally releasing its 2019 Christmas advert today.

It comes after a mysterious teaser was shared on social media on Tuesday, featuring a child’s hand knocking on a wooden door.

Following on from Monty the penguin, Moz the monster and Buster the Boxer dog, we have Edgar the excitable dragon.

The fire-breathing baby dragon will be introduced to the nation later on today as John Lewis launches its Christmas campaign for this year.

Almost as important as the advert itself is the song choice, and this year the brand has gone for a cover of 80s classic Can’t Fight This Feeling by REO Speedwagon.

Dan Smith from the band Bastille performs the track, which will be available to stream.

In these newly released pictures from the advert we get a good look at Edgar and the little girl who befriends him.

We can also see images of the village where Edgar lives, and a beautiful table laden with festive food.

In one shot fire bellows out of Edgar’s ears as he tries desperately not to let the flames escape from his mouth.

Edgar spontaneously breathes fire whenever he gets excited about something to do with Christmas.

Unfortunately this causes havoc for his neighbours in the historical village he lives in as he accidentally torches the tree and melts the ice rink.

Feeling guilty he shuts himself away, until a little girl who has befriended him comes to the rescue with a thoughtful present.

To find out what that present is you’ll have to watch for yourself when the ad drops online.

The advert will air in full on Saturday night during Celebrity X Factor and on Sunday night during the launch of I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! on ITV.
