John Lewis has finally released the first look of its 2019 Christmas advert and it is beyond adorable.
The high-end retail chain will have the nation falling in love with a dragon this festive season.
Releasing a two-minute-long trailer as a first look, it features Edgar an excitable green dragon who teams up with his best friend Ava for this year’s heartwarming tale.
The department store has joined forces with sister chain Waitrose for the Christmas ad.
As usual, John Lewis has become such a Christmas phenomenal in the UK that like previous years there will be cuddly toys, pyjamas, slippers, chocolates and more of Edgar flying off shelves.
This year’s ad centres on Edgar and his bestie human Ava, played by ten-year-old schoolgirl Ruby Dailly of Glasglow.
Edgar is so overly excited for Christmas that as it gets nearer he can barely contain his excitement.
The excitable little fella then joins the kids in the villa to create a snowman but it goes very wrong, very fast.
While placing the carrot on the snowman’s face for his nose, Edgar breathes over it and accidentally reduces the pile of snow to a puddle with his fire.
The kids aren’t happy despite it being an accident, which leaves Edgar beside himself.
Things get worse as Edgar sees the kids skating on the village ice rink which when he tries to join in, goes horribly wrong again.
His fiery breath melts the ice and the fed-up children make it known to give him evils as they fall into the cold water.
In a bid to help her friend be able to join in with Christmas activities, Ava tempts him out from locking himself away with a very thoughtful present.
Arriving at the village hall, everyone ducks as they spot Edgar but a caring Ava ensures them that she has the perfect solution for Edgar to be able to join in.
Ava produces a Christmas pud on a platter which Edgar flames with a light breath, followed by the tagline “Show them how much you are” appearing on the screen.
The ad goes live online at Johnlewis.com and Waitrose.com this morning and hits TV screens on Saturday during the X Factor Celebrity break.
