John Cena teases WWE retirement with cryptic tweet after Firefly Funhouse Match

WWE legend John Cena has dropped a huge hint about his in-ring future just days after WrestleMania 36.

The 16-time world champion faced off with “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt in the most creative and bizarre match in the company’s history as he entered the Firefly Funhouse during the two-night event, and the final moments cast some doubt over his immediate future.

In a very poetic moment, Cena’s own comments were used against him, Cena was defeated by The Fiend as his pointed words played out, revealing the end of the most ‘over hyped’ and ‘over privileged’ star of all time.

A few days later, the Hollywood star has taken to Twitter and suggested the match may well have signalled the end of his WWE career.

He cryptically tweeted: ‘All things end. When it’s time to leave, leave them guessing.’

The message is a fitting one, with many fans wondering what the final moments of the skit meant as Cena literally disappeared after being mentally tortured by Wyatt’s sinister character.

The match – which revisited the major points of his career and even teased the heel turn fans had long called for – would be an incredible way to mark the end of his iconic run.

The future Hall of Famer – who made his debut 2002 and has become one of the biggest names in the industry – has taken a step back from WWE over the past few years as he continues to focus on his Hollywood ambitions.

Speaking last year about his reduced schedule, he teased: ‘Any athlete that has played 17 seasons will tell you they need to be considering what to do when they play their last game. It’s been a wonderful ride.

‘I’m at a very reduced workload now. I feel great, I still have my health, my sanity, and wonderful emotional balance.’
