Joe Willock couldn’t hide his delight after watching Unai Emery’s reaction to his recovery tackle in Arsenal’s win over Newcastle United on Sunday.
The Gunners got their new Premier League campaign off to an excellent start as Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s goal sealed a 1-0 victory at St James’ Park.
Willock, meanwhile, was given a chance to impress in central midfield and one moment from the 19-year-old in the first half certainly caught Emery’s eye.
Willock was barged off the pitch by Jonjo Shelvey but the Arsenal midfielder quickly got to his feet and raced back to put in an excellent recovery tackle to win back possession and start another attack.
Arsenal’s ‘Bench Cam’ footage caught Emery’s reaction as the Spaniard celebrated Willock’s tackle as if he had scored a goal.

‘So much passion,’ said Willock after he was shown Emery’s reaction.
‘It shows how much passion the manager has for small things in the game.
‘It’s not a goal, it’s not a chance but it’s a big thing for him and it shows.’
