Joe Wicks admits he feared son Marley was blind, but reveals his sight is now ‘responding well’

Joe Wicks feared baby son Marley was blind, but reveals his sight is now responding well

Joe Wicks admits he was worried his son Marley was blind, after he noticed the baby wasn’t showing any signs of being able to see.

The Body Coach star, 33, welcomed son Marley with wife Rosie Wicks back in December.

He had been born prematurely and arrived three weeks before his due date and was forced to stay in hospital, before Joe and Rosie were given the go ahead to bring little Marley home on Christmas Eve.

Sharing a baby update to Instagram, Joe revealed that he and Rosie had been concerned about Marley’s sight and took him to an eye specialist four weeks ago.

‘We thought he wasn’t going to be able to see and they said it may be a late developmental thing and we were obviously keeping our fingers crossed, and staying positive,’ Joe explained while filming Marley.

Revealing how much Marley’s sight has improved, Joe said: ‘Watch how much he’s locked on now when he sees my face.’

‘Hello mate, it’s daddy! You’re a joker mate, you had me worried last week and you can see perfectly,’ he said to his baby boy. ‘You’re a late bloomer aren’t you darling?’

Joe continued: ‘It was so frustrating because he couldn’t see anything, he couldn’t lock on, but now he can see my face, he can see my smile.

‘Oh Marley, life’s a blessing. I love you mate. He’s responding so well, we love you Marley.’

N’aww. Glad to hear it!

Joe and Rosie, who tied the knot in June last year in a woodland themed wedding, are also parents to two-year-old daughter Indie.

The fitness expert has found himself thrown back into the spotlight after vowing to keep children fit during the coronavirus pandemic while schools have been closed.

After the government introduced lockdown measures that included schools being shut down until further notice, Joe decided to set up live PE lessons to get kids at home exercising each week.

He has vowed to keep up his classes, that can be streamed live on YouTube, every morning until schools reopen.

Joe was criticised by Gogglebox stars for ‘cashing in’ on the coronavirus crisis with his new videos, but speaking exclusively to Metro.co.uk, Joe has insisted that is not the case.

‘It’s definitely not true, I’m not benefitting financially, I’m giving it all back,’ the father-of-two said.

Just last week, Joe raised $100,000 (£80k) which will be donated.

‘As long as I’m doing these workouts specifically for schools, the money is going to go to the NHS. It’s the right thing to do, it feels right and I’m so glad I did that.’
