Joe Calzaghe has dismissed Carl Froch’s call-out – but claimed he would have beaten him comfortably in his prime.
Calzaghe reigned as the best super-middleweight in the world before Froch emerged as one of the finest at 168lb.
The younger man felt aggrieved at not being given a shot at Calzaghe and called him out again last week at the age of 42.
But Calzaghe laughed off the idea of coming out of retirement to face his old domestic rival.
“It’s mad, I’m still living in his head after all these years,” he told talkSPORT. “I’ve done everything you can achieve in boxing.

“I know what would have happened and I don’t take much notice of what he says.
“I’m 48 and I’ve been retired 10 years, I’m happy with my career.
“When I was at my peak I’d have been too fast and too sharp for him.
“I think I’d have beaten any super-middleweight, maybe not Roy Jones Jr at his peak.”
Calzaghe reigned for a decade before signing off his super-middleweight career with victory over Mikkel Kessler.

He then crossed the Atlantic to fight ring legends Bernard Hopkins and Jones Jr at light-heavyweight.
The Welshman then retired unbeaten after 46 professional fights over 15 years.
And he added: “After the fight with Mikkel Kessler I knew that was the end.
“I spoke to my dad and said I wanted to fight Bernard Hopkins, who was Ring Magazine champion, to leave a legacy.
“What mattered wasn’t someone piping up, there are always contenders, it was going to America and I did that.”
