Lord Alan Sugar has ‘fired’ Donald Trump as President, after he lost the US election.

Joe Biden was elected to the White House after a prolonged ballot count, with Pennsylvania giving him the electoral votes to eventually push him over the line.

As celebrities around the world reacted to the news, Lord Sugar couldn’t resist making a dig at his former Apprentice US counterpart.

Taking to Twitter, the 73-year-old revelled in the moment, typing his iconic catchphrase.

He penned: ‘.@realDonaldTrump it is with regret You’re Fired!’

The BBC star wasn’t the only person making the quip, as ‘you’re fired’ quickly started trending on Twitter after news organisations called Biden’s win.

It was announced on Saturday that the Democrat candidate has been elected the 46th president of the United States – and will be inaugurated in January.

Biden’s win also means Kamala Harris made history as she was named the Vice President – the highest ranking female politician in the history of the United States.

She is also the highest ranking African American and Indian American ever to hold political office in America.

Famous faces were left emotional at the news, flocking to social media to celebrate Trump’s departure.

Lady Gaga was among them, posting a passionate video on her Instagram page.

Through tears, she told fans: ‘I hope all the women know in this country that there is a real reckoning and a real change.

‘I hope people whose voices who have been oppressed by power, I hope you know your voices were heard.’

Struggling to regain herself, she added: ‘I’m just…. I’m honestly kind of speechless. This is a very, very special day.

‘It’s a day where a lot of people who felt like we were living in a state of terror and aggression all the time, that it’s over. You can feel warm now.’
