You’ve got to feel for Jodie Marsh – the former glamour model and businesswoman proudly unveiled the latest addition to her extensive tattoo collection this week… and it turned out to be a bit of a disaster.

She shared a video of her new tattoo of Freddie Mercury on Sunday, but fans were quick to point out that the ink looked less like the lead singer of Queen during his 1985 Live Aid performance and more like ‘Chris Kamara eating a Cornetto’ amongst other things.

Jodie had posted: ‘And my new tattoo!!!!!!!!! It’s Freddie!!!!!!!!!!!!! Done by Georgia at @blackorchidtattoostudio !!! I love him so much!!!!! It’s my favourite photo of him from Live Aid!! Love love love !!!!’

Given that the tattoo was on the back of her calf, Jodie didn’t get a close look at it in all its glory until later in the day – by which time fans had slated the ink in the comments.

One wrote: ‘I would ask for my money back. the body/arms/hands are not right, and the face.. its gutting when that happens’, with another adding: ‘Awful tattoo I’d be devastated if someone had done that to me’.

While those comments are among the tamer ones, Jodie took to Instagram to ask her followers not to harass the woman who had tattooed her and explaining what had gone wrong.

She wrote: ‘OK we all know that my tattoo isn’t the best but allow me to say a few words if you will. Georgia who did it also did my Buddy Holly and Chuck Berry tattoos 12 years ago.

‘I’m very happy with both of these tattoos. I lost touch with Georgia and she got back in touch a few weeks ago to ask if I would come & be tattooed at the opening of her new shop. I’d always told her she should have her own shop so was over the moon for her.’

She added that it was only later that she took a closer look at the Freddie tattoo and realised it wasn’t very good.

Jodie explained what had happened: ‘[Georgia] has since told me she felt very pressured the day she did Freddie. … It’s not an excuse to give someone a bad tattoo and then say “I felt pressured” but I do believe hand on heart that Georgia is good at what she does.

‘Whatever went wrong that day means I now have a tattoo that looks bad and that she is getting stick for. It’s my body and I have accepted that I will have to have it covered if it can’t be fixed.’

She added that she would still recommend Gerogia’s work ‘just maybe not for Freddie portraits’ and that the ‘hate campaign’ fans were putting her under was turning into bullying.

Here’s hoping Jodie can get it fixed and have the Freddie Mercury image she’s always dreamed of.
