Jodie Comer 'cancelled' by raging fans 'because she's dating Trump voter'

Killing Eve actress Jodie Comer has come under fire on Twitter from raging fans – because they think she is dating a supporter of Donald Trump.

The 27-year-old star, who plays a bisexual assassin Villanelle in the hit BBC drama, was rounded on by a social media mob who claim to have found evidence she is dating US lacrosse player James Burke.

Jodie has not publicly confirmed she is seeing anyone, but internet sleuths shared pictures supposedly showing her and James cosying up to each other.

Some users then posted further ‘evidence’ which they claim shows her supposed new lover is a registered supporter of Trump.

While it not has officially been confirmed the two are even dating or if James is a Trump supporter, scores of fans immediately took to social media to voice their outrage – claiming her support for Black Lives Matter and LGBTQ issues was at odds with traditional Republican views.

The star has previously said she “loves” what Killing Eve is doing for representation.

Donald Trump has repeatedly spoken out against Black Lives Matter protesters, while his administration has rolled back measures to protect LGBTQ rights introduced under predecessor Barack Obama.

On Twitter, one person wrote: “Jodie Comer if you’re reading this, you can’t play a gay character and call yourself an ally when you’re dating a Republican, you disgusting piece of s**t.”

“Jodie Comer dating a Trump supporter, while she’s portraying an LGBT character … is not only wrong but disgusting,” a second scolded.

And the hashtag “#jodiecomerisoverparty” has been trending since snaps of Jodie and the lacrosse star emerged.

Jodie is yet to respond to the allegations

But others jumped to Jodie’s defence, with one writing: “Wow so actress Jodie Cromer ( Killing Eve star ) is dating a Republican and is getting absolutely slaughtered on Twitter ! What kind of people are we becoming!!” [sic]

Another shared: “You know, I am so bloody glad that social media wasn’t a thing when I was a teenager; I cringe at the inanity of my teenage diary.

“Same as I’m cringing at all these kids Tweeting for the cancellation of Jodie Cromer for having the ‘wrong’ kind of boyfriend.”

Jodie is yet to respond to the allegations.

According to Mail Online, official records in the US show that James, who is from Boston, is a registered Republican voter – but many members of the party strongly oppose Trump.

James appears to have deleted his social media profiles when his name became public after he was spotted with Jodie.

Mirror Online has contacted Jodie’s rep for comment.
