Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker has shown a wildly different side in the trailer for the DC movie about the infamous Batman villain.

We have no idea what to feel.

While the first trailer for the highly-anticipated drama showed failed comedian Arthur Fleck downcast and broken, the new offering sees him almost triumphant as he claims his anti-hero title.

As the character lets out a chilling laugh at the beginning of the clip, he’s told: ‘Arthur, I have some bad news for you. This is the last time we’ll be meeting.’

‘You don’t listen, do you?’ he responds. ‘You just ask the same questions every week. “How’s your job? Are you having any negative thoughts?” All I have are negative thoughts.’

Donning his trademark clown look, he’s reflects: ‘Through my whole life, I didn’t know if I even really existed. But I do. And people are starting to notice.’

The new trailer goes on to show the villain’s more human side as he kisses a loved one, before going in on his demented aspect as he giggles away before causing chaos on the subway with a whole host of clowns.

‘One small thing,’ he says, donning the character’s colourful clown look before a stand-up show. ‘When you bring me out, can you introduce me as Joker?’

Consider us well and truly freaked out.

Fans are super impressed with DC’s new trailer, with one even saying: ‘I know that I just watched the trailer of the upcoming super-duper blockbuster movie.’

Others are embracing how different the movie looks, pointing out: ‘This feels so weird and separate from DC. Unique, Indy vibe. This seems like a true story of an introvert that is really having a mental breakdown.’

Meanwhile, there was one part viewers just couldn’t get over, with one writing: ‘That damn laugh in the beginning hit a nerve,’ and another adding: ‘Now THATS a Joker laugh.’

No lies detected.

Director Todd Phillips has chosen to stay away from the original material by DC for their origin story adaptation of Batman’s arch nemesis Joker – and is preparing for people to be ‘mad.’

‘We didn’t follow anything from the comic books, which people are gonna be mad about,’ he previously explained to Empire.

‘We just wrote our own version of where a guy like Joker might come from.’

Meanwhile, Joaquin recently admitted he was ‘scared’ to take on the role.

All we know for sure is it’s going to be creepy as hell. Be prepared.
