Joan Collins Twitter: Actress, 85, receives medical attention after fire at home

The actress, 85, called her husband Percy Gibson, 54, her “hero” as she revealed he had extinguished the fire at their home yesterday. Thanking the emergency services, she told her 171,000 Twitter there had been a “terrifying” blaze at her flat which “consumed the entire wall”. Joan Collins also expressed her gratitude for the ambulance crew who tended to the pair after the incident. “THANK U from the bottom of my [heart] to the marvelous @LondonFire who attended to the terrifying fire yesterday in our flat,” she wrote. “#threealarmfire My hero Percy had already doused the flames consuming the entire wall with handheld extinguisher (#donttakethisrisk).

“And thanks also to the @NHSEnglandLDN #nhs #emt #Ambulance crew who took care of our smoke inhalation and comforted me,” Joan continued. “And the wonderful @metpoliceuk who kept the street closed and everyone safe.”

The Dynasty star also added the hashtag: “#grateful.”

A spokesperson for the fire brigade told BBC: “Part of the flat on the first floor of the seven-storey building was damaged by the fire.

“Two people left the property before the brigade arrived.”

Meanwhile, a spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police told the publication two people were treated by the London Ambulance Service but did not require hospital treatment.

They said the fire was deemed non-suspicious.

Express.co.uk has contacted the London Fire Brigade and the Metropolitan Police asking for comment.

Elsewhere, earlier this week, Joan cut the ribbon at the Shooting Star Children’s Hospices boutique in Cobham, Surrey.

The glamorous screen legend also donated 300 items from her personal wardrobe to the charity, including a Montblanc handbag worth £300 and an autographed pair of Donald Pliner shoes.
