Jo Swinson’s 'fake crying' in speech backfires as viewers ask 'why don't you resign?'

Jo Swinson was attacked online as she delivered a speech in London ahead of the December 12 general election. The Liberal Democrat leader appeared emotional and nearly broke down as she criticised the Prime Minister over the way he handled the case involving Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe. Ms Swinson claimed the Prime Minister only cares about himself, but quickly received a furious response for her comments.

One online commentator wrote: “Jo Swinson doing fake weepy wobbles in her speech would be amusing if it wasn’t so menacing.”

Another quickly added: “Jo Swinson why don’t you resign instead of talking down political counter parties”.

Liberal Democrat Ms Swinson accused the Prime Minister of having a sense of “Etonian entitlement” and not caring about jailed British-Iranian mother Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe.

She said: “Boris Johnson only cares about Boris Johnson. He will do whatever it takes, sacrifice whatever or whoever is needed to get what he wants.

“This is a man who decided which side to support in the EU referendum by game-playing what would be most likely to get him the keys to Number 10.

“His life has been about becoming prime minister. Not out of some burning desire to make people’s lives better, but out of some sense of Etonian entitlement, because it’s what people like him get to do.

“Boris Johnson doesn’t care about you and your family. Just take the case of Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe. A British mother wrongfully imprisoned, a small child devastated, separated from her mum.”

She added: “When he was talking about that case, his words would be used against Nazanin at her trial.”
