JLS' JB Gill hints at 10-year reunion after Oritse Williams was cleared of rape allegations

JLS star JB Gill has sparked speculation that a comeback reunion could be on the horizon for the boyband after Oritse Williams was cleared of rape.

JB, 33, hinted at the band’s highly-anticipated comeback and pledged his support behind his fellow band mate Oritse, also 33, who has faced a turbulent few years after being hit with rape claims after the band split.

Seven years after the X Factor-created boyband went their separate ways, rumours of a reunion are circulating as bandmates Aston Merrygold, JB Gill, Ortise Williams and Marvin Humes approach their 10-year anniversary.

Speaking at the recent Paddington premiere in London, JB fuelled rumours as he cheekily revealed the boys had met up ‘a few weeks back’ and teased ‘never say never’ to reunion whispers.

JB told The Sun Online: “This year is a big year for us: our 10-year anniversary [since JLS’s debut album]. We are all very much in touch, we’re still brothers.

“We met up recently, a few weeks back, and we’ve always said when the time’s right we could do something. So a reunion… never say never.”

The singer also hinted that his friend and bandmate Oritse is doing better after he was recently cleared of rape allegations following a two-year court case.

JB praised Oritse as he told the publication: “He is doing well. All things considered. He is trying to put the past behind him and moving forward. We are family and always support him. We are there for him always.”

The band, who first shot to fame on The X Factor in 2008, previously sparked reunion rumours in November 2019 when reports claimed that the four boys were in talks to make a return to the music scene with ‘maybe a few new tracks’.

According to The Sun at the time, the four piece band were “chomping at the bit to give something back to their fans.”

JLS had four massively successful albums – plus one of greatest hits – and five Number One singles which cemented their status as one of the world’s biggest boy band phenomenons.

However it all came crashing down for Oritse when his life was torn apart after he was accused of attacking a JLS fan, but was found not guilty earlier last year.

The whole period lasted for three years in total, starting in December 2016.

He admitted through a statement that life “hadn’t been easy” for him over the last few years and he credited his loyal fans for helping him through it.

Oritse wrote: “I just wana say thnku to all my fans/supporters for everything you do.

“Life may have not of been easy the last couple of years but you have really brought me to the point where I’m slowly finding my self-confidence again and feel so incredibly motivated in this new decade!!

“God bless all of you. (sic)”

In May 2019, the singer was unanimously cleared of rape at Wolverhampton Crown Court after around two hours and 17 minutes of deliberation.

When speaking to Mirror Online in October he said it had been “three years of hell”.

He confessed the traumatic ordeal has made him pour out his emotions in writing and making music.

Back in June last year, the star was hit by a fresh tragedy after his £3million Surrey mansion was destroyed in a fire – and police have recently stopped their investigation as there are no suspects.

Despite today’s news, Oritse previously shushed any speculation of a JLS reunion, but hinted there could be something later in the future.

Oritse told Mirror Online last year: “Right now I’m just doing my own music,” and moved on to talk about wanting his pals from the boy band to hear his new songs first.

In the past, Oritse confirmed that the JLS boys are always in contact, admitting they speak regularly and have a WhatsApp group chat.

Mirror Online has contacted JLS’ representative for comment.
