Jim Carrey has reportedly had a change of heart about starring in another Ace Ventura movie and is said to be ‘in talks’ about reprising his iconic role in a sequel.

The 57-year-old first starred as the goofy detective in 1994’s Ace Ventura: Pet Detective and again in Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls in 1995.

Both movies were wildly popular so it’s no surprise that Jim is said to be in talks with Morgan Creek Productions and Warner Bros. – who produced and distributed the first two installments – about going for the hattrick.

According to We Got This Covered, it’s only in the discussion stage at this point but Jim is still ‘interested’ nonetheless.

Their insiders are said to have correctly revealed that Bill Murray would return for Ghostbusters 3 and that a Scream reboot was in the works told We Got This Covered, so we have faith that Ace Ventura will return to our screens.

Adding fuel to the rumours, Morgan Creek Productions appeared to somewhat confirm the news by sharing a link to the story with shifty-eye emojis.

The first Ace Ventura movie saw the pet detective go in search of the missing mascot of the Miami Dolphins, while the second saw him embark on a spiritual journey following the death of a raccoon, before returning to find a missing rare white bat.

And both were very memorable adventures thanks to Jim’s brilliantly quirky performance.

The Ace Ventura character lived on after Jim’s starring roles, with three seasons of an animated TV show and then a direct-to-video sequel featuring the character’s son. But none lived up to the success of the blockbuster movies.

Reports of Jim’s interest may come as a surprise considering actor Tommy Davidson told Us Weekly last year that it would unlikely the comedic actor would reprise the character.

‘[Jim] doesn’t want to do it now,’ Tommy claimed. ‘But Jim is one of those kind of artists that, you know, he does what he feels, he does what he believes in.

‘I asked him about it. I told him, “Hey man, it’d be nice in Jamaica.” He said, “No I’m not doing those now”.

‘And you know, that’s like going on the field and going, “Hey, Tom Brady, I think you should throw this over to…” No!’
