Jet2 resume flights: When is Jet2 resuming flights?

Hopes that Britons will be able to travel again soon are beginning to rise, as many airlines begin to announce intentions to resume flights. The holiday season in Europe has long-thought to be doomed with the ongoing devastation of coronavirus, but as Europe sees cases begin to fall, the airline industry is doing its best to get back on its feet.

Several airlines, including EasyJet, TUI, Ryanair and British Airways, have all announced plans to restart flights from July, with Jet2 the latest to reveal its plans.

Jet2 grounded its entire fleet earlier on in the pandemic as travel restrictions came in and demand for travel died.

Jet2 flies to destinations across much of Europe, with a particular focus on popula tourist destinations such as Spain, France, Italy and Turkey.

It is the third largest airline in the UK, behind EasyJet and British Airways.

“The health and safety of our customers and colleagues is our absolute priority, and we are continuing to monitor the situation very closely.”

“We’re contacting all affected customers about their options, including how to amend bookings to a later date, so if you were due to travel before 1 July 2020, we’ll be in touch.

“We know just how much a well-deserved getaway means to you and how much it gives you something to look forward to, particularly during difficult times such as these.”

The airline said it will enforce new health and safety measures onboard its flights, as well as for package holidays, to ensure the safety of its customers, although details of how this will be implemented have not been revealed.

EasyJet has announced passengers and crew will be required to wear masks in airports and on aircraft.

There will be no food sold during flights, enhanced cleaning of planes, and disinfection wipes and hand sanitiser made available to passengers, so Jet2 precautions may be similar.

A spokesman for Jet2 said: “We have said throughout that the sun will shine again and when it does, we will be there to take customers away on their well-deserved holidays.

“As well as taking them away for their much-needed holidays, customers can be assured that we will be implementing measures, in consultation with the relevant authorities, to ensure the safety and well-being of everybody onboard.”

At the moment, the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office is advising against all but essential international travel.

This means that travel insurance will be invalid for travel to almost anywhere for the timebeing.

A number of other airlines have announced tentative plans to ramp up their operations from the skeleton schedules currently being used.

Other airlines resuming flights include Easyjet, British Airways, and Ryanair.

Some EU countries are starting to reopen their borders, with Austria and Germany the latest to agree to remove travel restrictions.

The Government announced earlier this month that anyone entering the UK from a foreign country will have to quarantine for 14 days.

The travel industry has suffered considerably during the coronavirus, with Richard Branson asking the Government numerous times for a bailout.

There have also been widespread lay offs in the industry, and thousands of staff furloughed.
