JESY Nelson has been praised by pals after opening up about her suicide attempt in the BBC documentary Odd One Out last night.
Stranger Things actress Millie Bobby Brown, McFly singer Harry Judd and Towie star Georgia Kousoulou were among those who reacted after the Little Mix star admitted trolling drove her to starving herself and wanting to die.
Celebs rallied around the 28-year-old singer, who is dating Chris Hughes, and many were in floods of tears as Jesy told her story.
Harry Judd tweeted: “Heartbreaking documentary but so important. Well done Jesy. X”
Millie Bobby Brown shared a photo of Jesy on Instagram and said: “A real influence … her documentary was beautiful she is beautiful inside and out. Social media has such an effect on people and we have to remember to be kind especially after watching this doc.”
While Bake Off star Candice Brown was lost for words after seeing Jesy speak to the parents of 16-year-old Sian Waterhouse, who killed herself after being bullied online.
She reacted on Twitter: “Absolutely harrowing to watch …
“Struggling to find words to describe this or say how this will change peoples lives. Thank you Jesy you have made a lot of people very proud! Trolls, bullies, people with hurtful opinions watch this, stop, think & be aware of the consequences.”
Meanwhile, Towie star Georgia Kousoulou insisted the film should be shown in schools.
She said: “Wow #OddOneOut was heartbreaking but amazing! I think this should be shown in all schools and colleges around the world .. Jesy you should be so proud of yourself”
“What a woman Jesy Nelson. It pains me what she went through but wow you have just done so much for so many #OddOneOut thank you for sharing.”
Their comments were in stark contrast to what Katie Hopkins had to say about Jesy last night.
In a bizarre tweet, Katie, 44, called the singer “chubbers” after Jesy revealed she’d starved herself and once tried to take her own life in the BBC film.
She wrote: “Packet Mix have still got a chubber in their ranks. Less Little Mix. More Pick n Mix.”
In a since deleted message her boyfriend Chris, 23, hit back on the site and wrote: “b***h” followed by a middle finger emoji.
Most viewers were shocked by Katie’s timing as one said: “Unbelievable. Kids are taking their own lives. And that’s all you have to say?”
