Jessica Mauboy says she 'doesn't know if she can have children'

Jessica Mauboy has revealed her family plans with fiancé Themeli Magripilis, saying she hasn’t ruled out the idea of adopting children.

The Little Things star told The Kyle and Jackie O Show on Tuesday that she wants a family ‘in the future’ but ‘it’s not something [she is] focused on.’

When radio host Kyle Sandilands asked Jessica, 30, if she wanted to adopt instead of conceiving naturally, she responded by saying that she doesn’t even know if she is able to have children.

‘Definitely, hands down,’ Jessica said, when asked about adoption.

‘I’ve had this [thought] before, I’ve had that moment of, “Well, if I couldn’t have children”… I don’t know if I can even have children,’ she added. 

Jessica went on to say that she is still in a place of ‘discovering things’ about her body but had not had any ‘close calls’ with pregnancy in the past.

Turning to the subject of her upcoming wedding, Jessica said she would ‘like a smaller ceremony, just quiet and with my immediate family.’ 

‘You’re both invited, if you want to be a part of the small ceremony!’ she then told Kyle and his co-host, Jackie ‘O’ Henderson.

Meanwhile, Jessica isn’t the only celebrity that has expressed interest in adoption.

Retired AFL star Brendan Fevola said last week on his Fox FM radio show that he and his fiancée Alex plan to foster children once their daughters have grown up.  

‘These kids [foster children] just go through absolutely traumatic circumstances,’ he said. 

‘We could change someone’s life. We could get a kid that’s in foster care that goes from house to house and just adopt and give them a beautiful life.’
