Jessica Alba has plenty to celebrate this week after her wellness brand, The Honest Company, went public on Wednesday – earning her $2.6million (£1.8m).

The actress-turned-mogul’s company raised $413m (£297m) in its IPO, and was also valued at more than $1.4 billion.

The company, which specializes in baby and beauty products, opened with its price rising more than 40 percent intra-day, and closing at $23 per share.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, this good business helped the Honey star pocket earn a one-time $2.6 million dividend, in addition to her stake in the company.

As the company’s founder and chief creative officer, the Fantastic Four star currently owns more than 5.6 shares, which are worth just under $130m (£93m).

Last March, the mother-of-three opened up about her decision to focus on entrepreneurship when she founded The Honest Company in 2011.

‘Building a brand and building a business is f**king impossible,’ she told Romper. ‘And to be good at it and for it to thrive and scale, it is really hard. If anything, I was like, “Do I really want to do this?”

‘It took me three-and-a-half years just to find partners to even join me, and I got lots of rejection. I had to learn how to build decks.’

She continued: ‘In every stage, I’m trying to get better and better as a business person, but it’s a totally different skill set than just taking your influence and fame and putting your name on a package and doing a press tour, picking out a couple designs.’

In another interview, the 40-year-old confessed she didn’t think she was smart enough to run her business when it first launched.

While chatting to Health magazine, the star opened up on not having a ‘conventional’ education, which subsequently made her feel less intelligent than her peers.

She told the publication: ‘When I was younger, I thought I wasn’t smart. I didn’t have a conventional or higher education. Now, after starting a business, I feel okay with identifying myself as smart.’
