Jerome Boateng charged with assault after alleged attack of former partner

Bayern Munich defender Jerome Boateng has been charged with assault after allegedly attacking his former partner, German prosecutors claimed on Tuesday.

It is reported that Boateng, who played in England with Premier League champions Manchester City from 2010-11, was violent against his former partner.

Prosecutor Anne Leiding has told SID that an investigation into the claims began in 2018 and charges were brought forward in 2019.

“The Munich prosecutor’s office has had proceedings open against Jerome Boateng for dangerous assault since autumn 2018. Following extensive investigations, charges were brought on February 11, 2019,” said Leiding.

The chief prosecutor also said that police are investigating another incident that is alleged to have happened to the same victim.

“Moreover, the police are currently investigating another case of suspected personal injury to the detriment of the same victims,” added Leiding.

Leiding added that the court was yet to open the case but had accepted an accessory prosecution from the alleged victim, who has been named only as ‘S’.

The former Germany centre-back’s representatives have released a statement denying the charges.

According to SZ , the law firm said: “It is a private matter, which is basically based on unproven accusations of a third party.”

The 31-year-old returned to Germany to join Bayern in 2011 after just one season with City, though he was able to help the Manchester club secure an FA Cup triumph.

He has enjoyed a glittering spell at Bayern, winning seven league titles, four German Cups and a memorable 2013 Champions League triumph.

He has also earned 76 caps for Germany, helping his nation win the 2014 World Cup.
