Mohamed Salah then converted a late penalty to secure the win and extend Liverpool’s unbeaten run at home to 45 league games.

Assessing the match for Premier League Productions, Jenas said Liverpool deserved the victory and reserved special praise for Henderson.

The former Tottenham star said: ‘I think he’s a really underrated player for Liverpool. I know he’s the captain but a lot of his work goes unnoticed.

‘He works his socks off and he is a genuine leader within the ranks. You can see that when he doesn’t play, when he comes on the team lift.

‘He maintains standards within that dressing room. They were by far the better side and they deserved the win.’

Former Liverpool star Steve McManaman added: ‘Jordan is in excellent form.

‘He’s morphing into a different player even though he’s been around for a long time.’

Liverpool manager Klopp, meanwhile, praised his team’s performance when he reflected on a ‘wonderful game of football’ in his post-match interview.

‘I really liked the way we played against really tough opponents,’ he said. ‘It was a wonderful game of football, it’s how you wish games should be.

‘The boys delivered. We had chance after chance and the keeper had sensational save after sensational save.

‘At half-time I said this game had only one problem – the scoreline. When Tottenham had the ball their counter-attacks were incredible. We won the game and deserved it.’

On Wednesday evening, Liverpool return to Carabao Cup action with a home match against Arsenal, who drew to Crystal Palace on Sunday.
