Jeremy Kyle has stepped out in a rare appearance following the axing of his show, as he dressed as Shrek for Halloween.

We’re not sure if he was attempting to fly under the radar by whacking on a false nose and painting himself green, but it didn’t get past us.

Sorry, mate.

The TV stalwart, 54, fronted up to the Newcastle Halloween Ball on Wednesday night alongside his fiancé Vicky Burton, 37, who was dressed as Shrek’s wife Fiona.

With a prosthetic nose and ears, the presenter accompanied his pregnant partner as they made their way into the bash alongside Christopher Biggins in an axe headband, Faye Tozer (dressed as a devil), Golfer Lee Westwood and Viz Creator Simon Donald.

His appearance comes after The Jeremy Kyle Show was suddenly scrapped in May following the death of Steve Dymond, who died shortly after appearing on the show where he failed a lie detector test, which has since been deemed unreliable.

The host has largely remained silent since his show was immediately cancelled, other than speaking in a brief statement, telling The Sun: ‘Myself and the production team I have worked with for the last 14 years are all utterly devastated by the recent events.

‘Our thoughts and sympathies are with Steve’s family and friends at this incredibly sad time.’

ITV boss Kevin Lygo, however, remaine adamant Kyle still has a future on ITV, confirming ‘ongoing commitment to The Kyle Files’. ‘We will just have to have a look because [Jeremy] is a consummate broadcaster and it would be absolutely wrong to apportion blame of the show against the presenter of it,’ he argued.

‘We don’t hold him in any bad way. We will look to find another show with him, but I think it is unlikely it will go in the same slot.’

Jeremy did break his silence in August to share the news Vicky was pregnant, having told their families and are ‘delighted’.

‘Vick and I couldn’t be happier to say we’re expecting our first baby together. We’ve told our families and everyone is delighted,’ he said at the time.

Speaking to The Sun, he added: ‘It’s the best possible thing that could have happened and we’re excited about preparing for his or her arrival in January.’

Jeremy already has three daughters Harriet, 29, Alice, 15, Ava, 13, and one son Henry, 10, from previous marriages to Kirsty Rowley and Carla Germaine.
