Jeremy Hunt pledges to release Iran’s seized oil tanker — if they play their cards right

JEREMY Hunt has told Iran he will release the seized oil tanker – if they play their cards right.

The Foreign Secretary, who performed a Bruce Forsyth pose yesterday, says the UK could help if Iran provides “sufficient guarantees” the cargo isn’t bound for Syria.

He said he had a “constructive call” with his Iranian counterpart Javad Zarif about the tanker that was held off the coast of Gibraltar.

Iran said they wanted to resolve the issue and are not seeking to “escalate”, Mr Hunt said.

The tanker was seized in an operation on July 4 involving Royal Marines from 42 Commando.
