Jeremy Corbyn to SNUB Donald Trump at state banquet on official visit

JEREMY Corbyn has refused to have dinner with Donald Trump and the Queen when the US President comes to visit Britain.

Despite sitting down with a series of extremist political groups in the past, Labour said today that the Labour boss won’t be attending the official state banquet in June – and blasted him as a “racist and misogynist”.

He said today the PM shouldn’t be rolling out the red carpet for the leader of the United States and he didn’t approve.

But he would meet with him separately, if President Trump wanted him to.

The news will also been seen as a snub on the Queen, too, who will be hosting the banquet.

Mr Corbyn said this afternoon: “Theresa May should not be rolling out the red carpet for a state visit to honour a President who rips up vital international treaties, backs climate change denial and uses racist and misogynist rhetoric.

“Maintaining an important relationship with the United States does not require the pomp and ceremony of a State Visit. It is disappointing that the Prime Minister has again opted to kowtow to this US administration.

“I would welcome a meeting with President Trump to discuss all matters of interest.”

The Labour boss has in the past met and had chats with a string of terror groups and extremist politicians.

Mr Corbyn said back in 2015 on why he met with militant group Hizbollah: “You have to talk to people with whom you may profoundly disagree”.

The Sun revealed last night that Commons Speaker Bercow has refused to go too.

Who Jeremy Corbyn’s been happy to meet with in the past

  • At the height of the troubles he met with Sinn Fein’s President, Gerry Adams, and invited IRA volunteers to the House of Commons weeks after a bomb killed five at the Tory party conference in 1984.
  • And he attended a conference with senior Hamas leaders too. Their political wing is now a proscribed terror group in the UK.
  • Jeremy Corbyn accepted a free trip to meet President Assad of Syria in 2009
  • The Sun revealed last year he’d had a take-away dinner with a Hamas boss Khaled Mashal in Gaza
  • In 2015 he attended the state banquet at the Palace and met China’s leader President Xi Jinping
  • Last year he was slammed for laying a wreath in a graveyard where Munich terrorists were honoured in Tunisia
  • He’s appeared on Iranian state TV

The US President and First Lady Melania Trump are set to come to the UK for a full state visit from May 3 – 5 – which will tie up with the 75th anniversary of D-Day.

He could have a carriage ride down the mall, and will meet Theresa May for talks too.

But protesters have warned they will line the streets again to oppose his visit, and will get out their huge Trump baby balloon as well to fly over London.

During the last three-day working visit, Mr Trump had tea with the Queen and visited Windsor Castle.

But there was no official state banquet.

Lib Dem leader Vince Cable has also turned down the invite to the lavish dinner, where almost 200 VIPs are set to attend.
