Jeremy Corbyn threat: How Corbyn is threatening ‘no confidence’ vote in BEFORE Brexit

Jeremy Corbyn, the Labour Party leader, has threatened to call for a vote of no confidence in the government run by newly elected Boris Johnson in the autumn to prevent a no deal Brexit. The new Prime Minister has said that he will ensure the UK leaves the European Union by the deadline on October 31 “come what may”. Many people including trade organisations, experts and politicians believe no deal Brexit could be “catastrophic” for the country – leading to Mr Corbyn to threaten to call a vote of no confidence to oust the current leader of the country.

The deadline to exit the European Union is now officially less than three months away and the process to leave the Brussels block has not been simple by any means.

The first deadline on March 29 was extended but new Prime Minister Boris Johnson has said he has no intention of extending the deadline again and has said the UK will leave on October 31 “come what may”.

Britain’s departure from the European Union must be agreed by all remaining member states as well as the UK.

Former prime minister Theresa May agreed a deal which was repeatedly rejected when she tried to push it through parliament.

After the final rejection of her withdrawal agreement and with the Brexit deadline looming, Mrs May offered her resignation at the end of May.

In a speech after he was elected as the 77th British Prime Minister, Mr Johnson urged Brussels to “come to its senses” about Brexit and insisted that the chances of a no deal exit from the EU remained at “a million to one” if the EU showed “goodwill and common sense”.

However, many Westminster politicians are not as assured that the European Union will change its mind and agree a new deal – meaning the UK would be forced to exit without a deal.

Jeremy Corbyn warned he would call a vote of no confidence in Boris Johnson “when we can win it”.

The Labour leader added that he would make this motion at an “appropriate very early time”.

He said: “We will do everything to stop no-deal including a no confidence vote at the appropriate very early time to do it.”

Speaking on a visit to Whaley Bridge in Derbyshire, Mr Corbyn said: “We will do everything to stop no-deal including a no confidence vote at the appropriate very early time to do it.”

He added: “The Prime Minister seems to be trying to slip no-deal through, slip past Parliament and slip past the British people.

“Sorry, no deal will be really serious.

“Serious for food prices, for medical supplies, for trade, for investment, and drive us straight into the hands of the sort of trade deal that Donald Trump wants to do with Boris Johnson.

“I’m sorry, it’s not on, it’s not acceptable. We will do everything we can to block it.

“There will be a no confidence motion put at a point when we can win it and a point when we can make sure this Government is not allowed to take this country out of the union with no deal, because of all the dangers there will be to the people of this country.”

The motion would be part of attempts to prevent a no deal exit from the EU, with the Labour Party hoping the no confidence vote would force a general election.

Over the weekend, senior Labour figures and Tory rebels insisted there are still options open to Parliament to prevent a no deal exit.

Since last month those averse to a no deal exit have potentially had their numbers by a number of former ministers, such as ex-chancellor Philip Hammond, who previously voted with the Government but now have said they will now work to stop no deal.
