Jeremy Corbyn ‘physically and mentally frail’ for the job of PM claim – ‘Everyone says it'

The Times claims Mr Corbyn’s future became the subject of debate at an event this month where it was suggested he had become “too frail and is losing his memory”. One shadow cabinet minister allegedly having said he looked old, exhausted and was being “run ragged”. Senior civil servants have also revealed their concerns according to the paper about Mr Corbyn being “propped up” by his advisers.

Speaking to The Times a senior civil servant said: “When does someone say he is too ill to carry on as leader of the Labour Party let alone Prime Minister?

“There must be senior people in the party who know that he is not functioning on all cylinders.”

Another said: “There is a real worry that the Labour leader isn’t up to the job physically or mentally but is being propped up by those around him.

“There’s growing concern that he’s too frail and is losing his memory. He’s not in charge of his own party.”

The party have said Mr Corbyn is in good health, taking part in both running and cycling regularly.

Concerns about the Labour leader’s health are now being brought to the forefront because of the heightened possibility that Brexit will lead to a general election.

Mr Corbyn is reportedly undergoing treatment at Moorfields Eye Hospital due to a weakened muscle in his right eye.

A shadow minister described the party operation as a car crash.

Speaking to The Times they said: “They think he’s at his best when he’s on the stage speaking to rallies but the crowds are getting smaller and smaller.”

Labour MPs are sceptical of rumours circulating claiming Mr Corbyn was preparing for power with regular runs, cycling and working out at the gym.

A senior Labour politician said: “There have been rumours about his illness for a bit and all that rubbish about him going running and being fit — he’s obviously not well and it’s not just ageing, something has happened, he doesn’t seem all there sometimes.

“Everyone says it.”

However the Labour Party insists Mr Corbyn is healthy and well.

A spokesman described the claims as a “scurrilous and transparent attempt to undermine Labour’s efforts to redistribute wealth and power”.

He continued: “Jeremy takes his own decisions and has repeatedly and publicly backed a referendum on any Brexit deal.”
