Jeremy Corbyn, 70, is not ‘mentally or physically’ fit to be Prime Minister, top civil servants claim

JEREMY Corbyn is not fit “physically or mentally” to be Prime Minister, top civil servants claim.

The Labour leader, 70, has been accused of being “too frail and losing his memory” with fears he may be forced to stand down.

Civil servants claim he is being “propped up” by advisers and struggles to keep on top of foreign affairs and the domestic agenda, The Times reports.

One told the newspaper: “When does someone say [he] is too ill to carry on as leader of the Labour Party let alone prime minister?

“There must be senior people in the party who know that he is not functioning on all cylinders.”

Labour have argued Corbyn is in good health and leads an active lifestyle but fears are now rippling through the party as Brexit could trigger a general election.

‘DOESN’T SEEM ALL THERE’

Shadow ministers say he looks exhausted and has been “run ragged” by his commitments – with some believing he will stand down in Autumn.

Rumours are also circulating that he “doesn’t seem all there sometimes” – despite the party insisting he is preparing to take the reigns at No 10 with long runs and cycling.

It comes after he was treated for an eye condition at a specialist hospital in March – raising questions over whether he was fit enough to be PM.

A Labour spokesman said reports about his health were a “scurrilous and a transparent attempt to undermine Labour’s efforts to redistribute wealth and power”.

LABOUR DIVIDE

He added: “[Jeremy] takes his own decisions and has repeatedly and publicly backed a referendum on any [Brexit] deal.”

Corbyn was yesterday slammed by Dianne Abbott over his Brexit strategy as Labour’s civil war deepens.

The Shadow Home Secretary admitted she is “beginning to worry” about the party’s refusal to campaign to stay in the EU.

She is one of Corbyn’s closest allies and her attack will heap yet more pressure on him to finally clarify Labour’s Brexit position.

It comes after Labour big hitters rounded on Corbyn in a fiery shadow cabinet meeting earlier this week.

Shadow chancellor John McDonnell compared Labour’s policy to a “slow moving car crash” and broke ranks to demand Britain remains in Brussels.

Corbyn is facing massive pressure to sign up to a second referendum in all circumstances and campaign for Remain.

But many of his closest aides and his biggest paymaster, Unite boss Len McCluskey, want to see Brexit delivered.
