Jeremy Clarkson trolls Leonardo DiCaprio and Emma Thompson as he laughs at celebrity eco-warriors

Jeremy Clarkson isn’t a big fan of celebrity eco-warriors by the looks of things, after the Grand Tour presenter had a giggle at the likes of Leonardo DiCaprio and Emma Thompson.

The two actors have been fighting for climate change and speaking about the horrendous fallout of global warming, however after Leo flies in private jets and Emma was seen sipping champagne in first class, Jez wasn’t having it.

After Prince Harry was derided for flying in a private jet with wife Meghan Markle, despite the pair talking about the effect of global warming, the presenter was asked for his thoughts on other stars who guzzle the diesel by not flying commercial.

‘Well, Leonardo DiCaprio has sold his private jet, so that’s .0001 of a second longer the planet will exist,’ he apparently deadpanned in an interview with The Sun.

‘And Emma Thompson is hilarious — there is nothing funnier than a champagne socialist. Nothing on God’s green Earth.’

Back in April, Dame Emma defended taking a plane from Los Angeles to London to join the climate change protests disrupting central London, saying ‘It’s very difficult to do my job without occasionally flying’.

Touching down in Heathrow last week after a 5,400 mile journey, the Oscar-winning actress, 60, was swiftly accused of hypocrisy for joining the Extinction Rebellion (XR) protests.

A flight from Los Angeles International Airport to London Heathrow is estimated to generate around 1.67 tonnes of CO2 – roughly the amount a typical car will emit in four months. However, Emma told BBC Radio 4’s Today programme that she attempts to offset her carbon footprint by planting trees.

However Jeremy liked to have a giggle, as he added: ‘Whether you are a Labour MP with children at a private school or a green campaigner being driven to your TV studio to put your point across, it’s always funny.’

In an attempt to prove his point more so he continued: ‘I feel the need to offset some of the waffle spoken by these people about the environment.

‘So the more they speak about global warming, the more wholly unnecessary patio heaters I buy.

‘I have loads and loads of patio heaters — I don’t like to walk around outside without having some form of artificial warmth.’

Oh, Jeremy.
