Jeremy Clarkson was absolutely savage when he introduced Catherine Tyldesley on Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? last night.

The former Top Gear presenter didn’t mince his words and completely slated the Strictly Come Dancing contestant, who stepped up to the plate after Clare Balding had won £1,000 for charity.

‘Right, you’re Catherine Tyldesley,’ Jeremy began, before he started to compare the previous contestant. ‘Haven’t achieved anything like as much as Clare…’

A stunned Catherine, who didn’t quite know how to respond, looked despondent by the comments and sat awkwardly as the host rampaged on.

‘I mean Clare is a massive over-achiever I think,’ Jeremy continued.

Catherine quipped: ‘Absolutely, she’s just showing off there.’

But Jeremy wasn’t quite done with his put down, and added: ‘You’ve never been a jockey, never hosted any Olympic Games, you have, however, appeared on Coronation Street, Holby City, Two Pints Of Lager, Shameless, and a packet of crisps.’

Eek.

Despite not reporting from six Olympic Games or presenting for BBC Sport, Catherine has enjoyed a lengthy career on the small screen, first appearing in Coronation Street as a midwife in 2006.

Catherine had the last laugh though as she left the show having walked away with an impressive £8,000 for her chosen charity.

‘I just didn’t have much confidence in myself,’ she said before leaving.

‘Oh, that is annoying,’ remarked Jeremy.

The overall champion of the night however, was comedian Stephen Mangan who landed an incredible amount totaling £64,000.

Who Wants To Be A Millionaire is available for catch-up on the ITV Hub.
