Jeremy Clarkson has shared a message of support for ‘strong’ Boris Johnson, after he was rushed into intensive care at St Thomas’ Hospital as his coronavirus symptoms worsened.

Taking to Instagram, the Grand Tour host blessed us with a throwback as he arm-wrestled the current Prime Minister on what appeared to be a TV set.

Alongside the snap, the 59-year-old simply wrote: ’20 years ago, Boris beating me at an arm wrestle.

‘He’s strong.’

Boris was taken to hospital on Sunday night over his coronavirus condition, and moved into intensive care on Monday.

A string of famous faces, including Peter Andre, Lord Alan Sugar and Linda Lusardi, rushed to offer the PM their well wishes.

While Piers Morgan urged the government to be ‘100% straight’ with the public over his illness.

In a string of posts on Twitter, he said: ‘This is an incredibly serious situation for the British prime Minister.

‘Boris Johnson’s condition with #coronavirus at St Thomas’s Hospital has dramatically worsened in the last few hours & he was moved into intensive care at 7pm.

‘Fight hard Boris – we’re all rooting for you.’

‘Downing Street must now be 100% straight with the media & public re Boris’s condition,’ he continued. ‘No more lies. Britain is in a war & he is the Prime Minister.

‘His health is thus a matter of paramount public interest. We must all hope & pray Boris comes through this.’

When asked to stop his tweet, the Good Morning Britain host replied: ‘Stop asking Dowing Street not to lie? No.

‘If you have nothing positive to say about Boris Johnson on here tonight, then shut the f*ck up. The man is our Prime Minister & he is fighting for his life.’

BBC Breakfast’s Dan Walker echoed his sentiments, adding: ‘For those sending around vile jokes about the Prime Minister in ICU… please remember the words of The Queen last night: “I hope in the years to come everyone will be able to take pride in how they responded to this challenge.”’

‘Show some class.’

A total of 55,242 people in the UK have tested positive for Covid-19, with the death toll rising to 6,227.
