Jeremy Clarkson health: Top Gear and The Grand Tour star reveals key to 2st weight loss

Jeremy Clarkson, 59, revealed he has dropped an impressive two stone since kickstarting his diet last year. The Grand Tour favourite told The Sun salad was a key part of his new diet, saying: “I had salad for lunch and water – well, I had water because you lot were coming. But I had a salad nicoise and a glass of water. I lose two stone last year,” he added.

When asked if he was boosting his weight loss by adding gym sessions on top his diet, the former Top Gear presenter said: “No, no, that would be unseemly.

“The Queen doesn’t go to the gym and she doesn’t run and she’s 93 and she’s all right.

“Apparently she only has a forkful, she only has a tiny bit,” he continued. “That’s what I’ve heard.

“She’ll sit down and just have one little bit of mousse and a bit of lettuce leaf.”

Although he’s ditched most vices on his health kick, Jeremy admitted he still has “beer days” when the weather is warm.

He said his main choice of tipple is now rosé.

Jeremy is best known as a long-time presenter of Top Gear alongside his co-hosts Richard Hammond, 49, and James May, 56.

In 2015, the trio left the BBC and subsequently launched their own car show, The Grand Tour, on Amazon Prime.

Jeremy Clarkson previously revealed his shocking health condition during an appearance on The Jonathan Ross Show, telling the host, 58, he was suffering with an oozing abscess.

The Grand Tour presenter was in Saigon, Vietnam, when he discovered the issue and informed local doctors before being rushed to hospital.

“I said, ‘It’s nothing, I just need a doctor to pop around and lance this little abscess I’ve got,’” he said.

“She [the doctor] said, ‘Where is it?’ I said, ‘My abdomen.’ She said, ‘Does it hurt?’ I said, ‘Yes, it does.’ She said, ‘Which side?’ I said, ‘Left side.’”

He went on to recall how quickly the situation had escalated, saying: “By the time I’d finished explaining, the ambulance was there… In the ambulance, siren on, off to the hospital.

“The doctor was there 30 seconds later and three minutes later I was on the operating table,” he added.

Jeremy also said he was still “leaking” due to the wound left not being able to be closed.

“There was a growth coming out of my abscess so they lopped it out,” he explained. “It’s a fabulous healthcare system.”
