Jeremy Clarkson: Grand Tour star's brutal 'sex symbol' swipe at Gary Lineker exposed

Jeremy Clarkson hit the headlines this week after he felt compelled to inform Twitter users that he was “not dead” amid speculation over his silence on the social media platform. The TV star, who fronts ‘Who Wants to be a Millionaire?’ and ‘The Grand Tour’, was uncharacteristically quiet according to fans who savour his salacious comments online. One of those outbursts targeted football legend Gary Lineker after the two of them were named in a survey about celebrities Britons had a crush on.

Jeremy Clarkson seemed less than impressed after being named the third in a questionnaire to find the “unlikeliest sex symbols” in the UK.

The survey of 5,000 women from DatingDirect.com featured a number of showbiz stars in their ranks, including Phillip Schofield who topped the 2008 poll.

BBC talk show host Jonathan Ross pipped the former ‘Top Gear’ star to second place and the late ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ presenter Bruce Forsyth, then 79, was at number 10.

Upon being informed of the accolade Jeremy bemoaned that he didn’t have particularly strong competition due to others named in the rankings.

He also scorned Gordon Ramsay, who came in sixth place, as someone who “calls a spade a spade”.

In contrast, the poll’s winner Phillip Schofield was apparently thrilled to have been named number one.

He told the Mirror: “It seems a million years ago that I was on some calendars as a pin-up, so people saying this now is really lovely.

“But a lot of people say I’m their ‘guilty pleasure’, as if they don’t want to admit it out loud!”
