The Grand Tour star Jeremy Clarkson, 59, is currently filming the latest series with his co-stars Richard Hammond, 49, and James May, 56.
The presenter said poor weather conditions in Vietnam forced the team to change the ending of the show, which Jeremy has described as “dramatic”.
Speaking on his Drivetribe Youtube channel, he said: “It was an incredibly dramatic ending which was entirely accidental.
“The ending we’d planned, that we’d spent hundreds of thousands of pounds on, that we had researched for months, didn’t happen.
“As a result of the conditions we simply couldn’t complete [the shoot] but because of the conditions we had one hell of an ending – an astonishing ending.”
Jeremy Clarkson went on to say James May had almost died during filming for The Grand Tour season four.
The presenter told how a monsoon in the country hit as they rowed in the sea, prompting James to be rescued.
He added to The Sun: “I, of course, was fine, but May had to abandon ship as crew boats were filling with water.”
Jeremy said the dangerous incident took place where four people had previously died, prompting producers to scrap the segment.
Elsewhere, earlier this month Jeremy Clarkson made a joke about Richard Hammond’s horror car crashes.
A social media user tweeted the host writing: “My wife doesn’t think @RichardHammond @MrJamesMay or @JeremyClarkson really drives on @thegrandtour!”
“Just watching the Bentley Betayga vs Jaguar vs Range Rover in Germany and she thinks it’s a stunt driver behind the wheel!”
In view of his 7.2 million Twitter followers, Jeremy jokingly responded: “So it’s just a coincidence that whenever Hammond crashes, he’s always in the car.”
Many of the star’s fans seemed to find Jeremy’s response humorous, with one user writing: “I bet @RichardHammond wishes he wasn’t in the cars on those occasions! (So glad he’s okay though!)”
A second commented: “This is priceless comment from @JeremyClarkson.”
Richard suffered brain damage and life-threatening injuries after a crash during filming for Top Gear in 2006.
The host was left in a coma for two weeks before making a full recovery.
Richard previously said he had a 50/50 chance of surviving after the crash.
Back in 2017, the car enthusiast also escaped the wreckage of a supercar before it burst into flames on location in Switzerland.
Miraculously, he suffered no serious injuries, with just a fractured knee.
